Flight Sergeant/Air Gunner George Crooks Telfer, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was lost on an Air Operation over Germany, aged 20, on the 16th January 1945. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of Adam and Ann Telfer of 20 Cairnmount Jedburgh. He had worked for the Forestry Commission and was a messenger for the Special Constabulary before enlisting in September 1943. He joined 102 Squadron which flew the Handley Page Halifax from R.A.F. Pocklington as part of 4 Group Bomber Command . His aircraft was lost on a raid to Magdeburg when it crashed near Wolfshagen with no survivors. He is buried in Hanover War Cemetery, Germany.
