Flight Lieutenant Archibald Douglas

Flight Lieutenant Archibald Gordon Douglas, Royal Auxiliary Air Force. He was lost on an Air Operation to Munich with 10 Squadron Royal Air Force on 6th September 1943 aged 26. He was the son of George and Elizabeth Sutherland Douglas and husband of Alexandra Douglas of Gordon. He was the pilot of a Handley Page Halifax 11 heavy bomber ( JD166 ) AND was shot down by a German night fighter near leeder south west of Munich. Flt/Lt Douglas and his rear gunner Sgt O’ Kill were killed whilst the other 5 crew members bailed out and were made Prisoners of War. He is buried in Durnbach War Cemetery, Germany.
