Corporal John Windram, 47th ( British Columbia) Battalion, Canadian Infantry. He was killed in France on 16th March 1917 aged 33. He was the husband of Sophie McKenzie Windram and is commemorated on the Vimy Memorial, Vimy, France. Before the War he had worked as a fisherman in Eyemouth and had then emigrated in 1912 to work as a millwright at Frasers Mills in British Columbia, Canada. He had been a noted footballer and had played for Eyemouth Rovers. He had been born in Eyemouth and was the son of Isabella Windram of May House, Albert Road, Eyemouth.
