Skipper John Dougal

Skipper John Dougal, Merchant Marine Reserve. He served, as Skipper, aboard H.M. Drifter “Isabel Colven” and died on Service on 11th November 1915, aged 54. He had been born in Eyemouth and was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Dougal of High Street, Eyemouth and is buried in Eyemouth Kirkyard where his Headstone is inscribed ” Gone But Not Forgotten”. The boat was working out of Grimsby as a patrol boat and on 11th November he was on leave in Grimsby when he did not return to the boat. It was presumed that he had fallen into the harbour and drowned.
