Sergeant Robert Renton, D.C.M., 2nd Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. He was killed by a sniper in France, aged 24, on the 7th August 1915. He was born in Edrom, Berwickshire and was the son of Peter and Margaret Renton of Fireburn Mill farm, Coldstream and East New Biggen, Norham, Northumberland. He had enlisted as a Regular soldier in July 1909 and landed with his Battalion in France in August 1914. In May 1915 he was wounded in the leg and was treated in hospital in Dundee but within six weeks he was back at the Front. He is buried in Sucrerie Military Cemetery, Colincamps, France.
