Private Thomas Fairbairn, 11th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Scots. He died on Service in France on 10th July 1918, aged 29. He had been born in Cove, Cockburnspath and was the son of James and Alice. Fairbairn, Cove, Cockburnspath and is buried in Chambieres French National Cemetery, Metz, France. It is probable that Private Fairbairn had been a Prisoner of War since the German Spring Offensives as most of the British graves here were brought in from German cemeteries after the War. Before enlisting he had worked as a shepherd at Norham, Northumberland.
