Private E. McCarter, 12th ( Service ) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He died at home on 24th September 1919, aged 24. He was the son of the late James and Janet McCarter and the husband of Ann McCarter of Craigs Buildings, Chirnside. For some reason his name is not on the Chirnside War Memorial but he is buried in Chirnside Churchyard.
