Private David Rogerson

Private David Pickett Rogerson, 1st/7th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Duke of Wellington’s ( West Riding Regiment ). He was killed in action in Belgium on 29th April 1918 during the Battle of the Lys and is buried in La Clytte Military Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium. He had enlisted in January 1915 into the Northumberland Fusiliers ,aged 17, and later transferred into the West Riding Regiment. Before enlisting he had worked for Lord Armstrong at his Cragside home as a footman. The photos show British troops in makeshift defensive positions awaiting further German advances.
