Erected by WILLIAM JOHNSTON in memory of his wife JANE HILL who died at Swinton Quarter 10th May 1871 aged 66 years. Also the above WILLIAM JOHNSTON who died at Swinton Quarter 21st November 1875 aged 65 years. Also JAMES CRAIG son of WILLIAM and CATHERINE CRAIG and grandson of the above WILLIAM JOHNSTON died 10th April 1889 aged 14 weeks. Also CATHERINE JOHNSTON wife of WILLIAM CRAIG and daughter of WILLIAM JOHNSTON died 9th May 1917 aged 72 years. Also JOHN JOHNSTON CRAIG Corporal First Foot KOSB son of WILLIAM and CATHERINE CRAIG killed in action in France 20th September 1918 aged 26 years. Also WILLIAM CRAIG husband of the above CATHERINE JOHNSTON died 1st July 1927 aged 81 years.
