(Iron railings) Sacred to the memory of David Playfair who died at Coldstream 30th December 1879 aged 74 years. Also of Jane Turnbull his wife who died at Coldstream 4th August 1892 aged 84 years. Also of Elizabeth their daughter who died at Coldstream 13th February 1900 aged 52 years.

Commentary

David Playfair’s occupation was a Miller Journeyman. He was born at Greenlaw and lived in Store Close in 2 rooms. This is an rea of the town where the Old Jail House and Court House was. It is in the area of what is now referred to as the ‘Steamers car park.
