In loving memory of Thomas SHELL beloved husband of Jane SHELL who died at Kirkncwton. Dec. 15th 1916 aged 72 years
. Also of Lance Cpl. Thomas Nesbitt. their son. North'' Fus. who died at Hornsea November 1st 918 aged 23 years.
Also of the above Jane SHELL who died at Kirknewton. October 6th 1924 aged 72 years
Military record
Private Thomas N. Shell, 1st/4th Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He died of pneumonia in hospital in Hornsea on 1st November 1918 and is buried in Kirknewton ( St. Gregory ) Churchyard, Kirknewton, Wooler, Northumberland. He had been wounded on the Somme in 1916 and gassed in March 1917. Before enlisting he had worked as a shepherd fot Mr C.F.J.Thompson at Kirknewton Farm.
