Private Alfred Thompson

Private Alfred Thompson, 13th ( Service ) Battalion, Durham Light Infantry. He died from wounds in France, aged 22, on the 26th October 1918 suffered  during the ” Advance to Victory”.  He had been born in Wooler and was the son of William and Isabella Thompson of Ashington. He was the youngest of his 11 siblings and is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension Rouen, France. The photos show Allied troops advancing after the retreating Germans during the final 100 days of the War.
