Private John Morrison

Private John Morrison, 9th ( Service ) Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 27th April 1917 during the Battle of Arras, aged 19. He was the son of William and Mary Morrison of Wark, Cornhill-on-Tweed and is buried in Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, France. He had been born at Berwick-upon-Tweed and before enlisting he had been a farm worker at Akeld, Turvielaws and Roseden. His Headstone is inscribed ” In Memory Of My Dear Son On Whose Soul Sweet Jesus Have Mercy”.  The photographs shows British troops near Arras.
