Private William Heslop, 11th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Scots. He was killed in France near Arras on 15th March 1917 and is buried in Fauberg D’Amiens Cemetery, Arras, France. He was the son of Rachel and the late Thomas Heslop of ” The Thatch ” public house at 45 West End, Tweedmouth and before enlisting he had been employed as a rural postman. During the Battle of the Somme he had been wounded in August 1916. His brother Thomas also fell ( see above ).
