Private Thomas Hunter

Private Thomas Hunter, 9th ( Service ) Battalion, Duke of Wellington’s ( West Riding ) Regiment. He was killed in action in France on 26th August 1918, aged 28 during the ” Advance to Victory”. He was the son of Thomas and Mary Ann Hunter of 48 Main Street, Tweedmouth and is commemorated on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial, France. Before enlisting he had worked with his father at the Bricksheds Farm, Tweedmouth. The photos show Allied troops advancing after the retreating Germans during the final 100 days of the War.
