Second Lieutenant John Simpson

Second Lieutenant John Parker Norfolk Simpson, 5th ( Special Reserve ) Battalion, att. 3rd Battalion, Royal Fusiliers. He died from his wounds in Belgium on 27th May 1915, aged 25. He was wounded and made prisoner during the Battle and died in a German Field Hospital. He was the son of James and Louisa Simpson of Alnwick and is buried in Harlebeke New British Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium. He had been educated at Malvern College and on the outbreak of War had joined the Public Schools Battalion as a Private.  He was commissioned in January 1915 and was then sent to France. The photos were taken during the Battle.
