Leading Signalman Peter Lamb

Leading Signalman Peter Lamb, Royal Navy. He died of wounds at Home on 1st June 1916 and is buried in Tweedmouth Cemetery. He had served at H.M.S. Victory which was a shore base in the Portsmouth area for training recruits. He had been wounded aboard H.M.S. “Birmingham ” at the Battle of Heligoland Bight in August 1914. The ship was a Town Class light cruiser of 5,440 tons and a crew of 433. On 9th August 1914 she sank U-15 and as well as Heligoland took part in the Battles of Dogger Bank and Jutland.
