Private Alexander Stevenson

Private Alexander Stevenson, 15th Battalion ( 48th Highlanders of Canada ), Canadian Infantry. He was killed in action in France on 8th August 1918, aged 20 during “The Advance to Victory”. He was the son of Robert Stevenson of Viking, Alberta, Canada and is buried in Demuin British Cemetery, Amiens, France. He fell during the Battle of Amiens, a famous victory which heralded the start of ” The 100 days “, a series of offensives which finally forced Germany to admit defeat and sign the Armistice on 11th November 1918.
