Driver George Aitchison

Driver George Aitchison, Army Service Corps. He died in hospital on 1st November 1917 aged 27 and is buried in Selkirk Cemetery. He had been born at Blackadder Mount, Edrom, Berwickshire and was the son of Thomas and Janet Shiel Aitchison of 17 Chapel Street, Selkirk. Before enlisting he had worked in Stow as a baker. He had landed in France in August 1915  but two years later he was kicked by a horse and was evacuated to King George’s Hospital, Lambeth, London where he died.
