Lance Corporal Angus Milne

Lance Corporal Angus John Milne, 1st Battalion Cameronians ( Scottish Rifles ). He was killed in action in Burma on 6th April 1944, aged 20. He had been born in Tannadice, Angus and was the son of John and Mary Milne of Stow and is commemorated on the Rangoon Memorial, Burma. The Battalion was part of the second Chindit force which went behind Japanese lines in Burma to disrupt communications and create general mayhem. ” Operation Thursday ” began on 5th March 1944 and 10,000 troops were taken in to central Burma by gliders to designated landing areas from where the offensive sorties would begin.
