Private William Lewis

Private William Angus Lewis, 30th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps. He died on Active Service, aged , 24 in the Colonial Hospital in Gibraltar on 21st September 1915. He was born in Selkirk in 1890 and was the son of James and Adeline Lewis of 2 Marion Crescent, Selkirk. He had landed on Gallipoli with the 10th ( Irish ) Division in August 1915 but fell ill and was evacuated to Gibraltar where he died. He is buried in Gibraltar ( North Front ) Cemetery, Gibraltar.
