Private Robert Lamb Stevenson, M.M., 12th ( Ayr and Lanark ) Battalion, Royal Scots Fusiliers. He was killed in action, aged, 29, in Belgium on the 6th September 1918 during the ” Advance to Victory”. He had been born in Selkirk in 1889 and was the son of the late Adam and Elizabeth Stevenson of 95 Forest Road, Selkirk. He had originally enlisted in the 1st/1st Lanarkshire Yeomanry as dismounted troops in October 1915 and served in Gallipoli, Egypt and Palestine. In January 1917 the Unit was merged with the Ayrshire Yeomanry to form the 12th Battalion R.S.F. before moving to France in May 1918.
