Private Robert Hislop, 2nd Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died from malaria on Active Service in India on 30th July 1943 aged 23. He was the son of Jane and the late Robert Hislop of 26 Shawburn Road, Selkirk and is buried in Ranchi War Cemetery, Jharkhand, India. (According to the Regimental history the Battalion arrived at Chittagong in India on the 20th September 1943 having been stationed in India on the outbreak of War ). His Headstone is inscribed ” Son Of Jane And The Late Robert Hislop, 26 Shawburn Road, Selkirk, Scotland “,
