Private John Scott Dickson, Canadian Engineers. He died on Service in a Military Hospital in Canada, aged 36, on the 25th February 1918. He had been born in Selkirk in 1881 and was the son of Thomas and Jemima Dickson of Victoria Crescent, Selkirk. He was the husband of Jennie Dickson of 339 Huron Street, Toronto whom he had married in Selkirk in 1902. He was a very well known musician and organist and held posts in Hawick, Tulliallan and Maybole before returning to Selkirk as organist at the Lawson Memorial Church. He emigrated to Canada where he was an organist in several Toronto churches before becoming a land surveyor He enlisted in Toronto in August 1917 and died in a military hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is buried in Toronto ( Mount Pleasant ) Cemetery, Ontario, Canada.
