Private George Aitchison, Army Service Corps. He died in hospital on Service on 1st November 1917 aged 27. He had been born at Blackadder Mount, Edrom, Berwickshire and was the son of Thomas and the late Mary and the stepson of Janet Aitchison of 17 Chapel Street, Selkirk. He is buried in Selkirk Cemetery. Before enlisting he had been employed as a baker in Stow. In France he had been kicked by a horse and was evacuated back to England where he died in St. George’s Hospital, Lambeth, London.
