Lance Corporal Robert Walker, 2nd Battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was killed in France, aged 29, on the 23rd December 1916. He had been born in Selkirk in 1888 and was the son of Robert and Margaret Walker of Curror Street, Selkirk and the husband of Agnes Walker of 49 Island Street, Galashiels. Before enlisting he had been employed by McCaig & Co. Wool Merchants, Galashiels and he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme, France. The Battalion was part of the 98th Brigade in the 33rd Division.
