Lance Corporal Peter Grieve, Royal Army Service Corps. He died from wounds near Nuth in Holland, aged 40, on the 17th November 1944. He had been born in Queensferry, West Lothian in 1905 and was the husband of Wilhelmina Grieve of 22 Forest Roads, Selkirk. He had come to Selkirk in the 1920s and was mostly employed at the Fleece Hotel. After enlisting he had served in North Africa and Italy before landing in France on D-Day 6th June 1944. He is buried in Brunssum War Cemetery where his Headstone is inscribed ” Not Just Today But Every Day We Will Remember Him. Wife And Family”.
