Deck Boy James Thomas Davidson, Merchant Navy. He died on Service, aged 18, on the 1st April 1942.. He had been born in Selkirk in 1924 and was the son of Thomas and Elizabeth Davidson of 35 Tower Street, Selkirk. He is commemorated on the Tower Hill Memorial, London. He had been a crew member on the tanker M.V. “British Endurance” and died after falling into the hold whilst the vessel was in port in Australia.
