Captain Robert Roberton

Captain Robert Kay Roberton, Royal Tank Regiment, Royal Armoured Corps ( 46th The Liverpool Welsh ). He was killed in action in Italy on 4th February 1944 during the fierce fighting around Cassino , aged 39. He was the son of John and Elizabeth Roberton of Kelso and is commemorated on the Cassino War Memorial, Cassino, Italy. ( The C.W.G.C. site shows his rank as Lieutenant ). The Regiment used the Sherman tank.
