Sergeant Air Gunner George Walter Todd, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve. He was lost on Air Operations over Germany , aged 27, on 17 August 1944. He had been born in Johnston, Renfrewshire to George and Anne Todd of 12 Abbey Place, Melrose and is commemorated on the Runneymede Memorial. His Halifax NA504 DY-Y was lost on an raid on the German port of Kiel when it disappeared without trace. He served with 102 Squadron which flew the Handley Page Halifax 111 from R.A.F. Pockington.
