Rifleman Thomas Wilson

Rifleman Thomas Marten Wilson, 8th ( Territorial ) Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment ( Prince of Wales’s Own ). He was later transferred to the 246th Coy. Labour Corps. He died from diabetes in France , aged 20, in the 22nd Casualty Clearing Station on 5th February 1919. He had been born in Melrose to Thomas and Jessie Wilson of Danielton Cottages, Melrose and is buried in Cambrai East Military Cemetery, Cambrai, France. His Headstone is inscribed “God, His Watch Is Keeping Though None Else Is Near”.
