Private John Tully

Private John Thomson Tully, 12th ( Service ) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He died in Bangour Hospital on 18th September 1918 , aged 31, He was born in Cramond, Edinburgh to Agnes and the late George Tully and was the husband of Mary Tully of Church Place, Melrose. He is buried in Edinburgh Morningside Cemetery. He had been employed as a chauffeur in Abbey Street, Melrose when he had enlisted in the 2nd Battalion, K.O.S.B. From there he had been transferred into the H.L.I. where he was wounded in April 1917 during the Battle of Arras. His Headstone is inscribed ” He Died That We Might Live”.
