Private Ion Dunn

Private Ion C. Dunn, 1st Battalion, Seaforth Highlanders. He died in Mesopotamia on 24th January 1916 from wounds suffered in action aged 28. He was the son of Ralph and Agnes Dunn of Fernihurst, Melrose and is buried in Amara War Cemetery, Iraq. Before enlisting he had been employed in the confectionary trade in Edinburgh. He was mortally wounded in an attempt by British and Indian forces to relieve an Allied garrison which was besieged by Turkish forces in the town of Kut-Al-Amara.
