Private William Preston, Army Service Corps, 13th ( Service ) Battalion, Manchester Regiment transferred to 982nd Employment Coy. Labour Corps. He died from illness on Active service in the 47th General Hospital in Greece on 17th September 1918, aged 32, and is buried in Mikra British Cemetery, Kalamaria, Greece. He had been brought up by his Grand Parents in Maxton and was the cousin of Mrs William Cockburn of The Green St. Boswells.
