Private Robert Clazie, 206th Coy. Machine Gun Corps ( Infantry ). He died as a Prisoner of War on 7th December 1918 having been captured in March 1918 during the German Spring Offensive and is buried in Neuf-Brisach Communal Cemetery Extension, near Strasbourg, France. He is buried beside 35 of his comrades all of whom died as P.O.W.s. He had enlisted in Wooler into the 20th Battalion, ( 1st Tyneside Scottish ) Northumberland Fusiliers but was later transferred to the Machine Gun Corps. The M.G.C. used the Vickers Mk1 water cooled gun in both defensive and offensive roles.
