Private Andrew Turner, 2nd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders. He died in France on 19th March 1916, aged 24, of wounds received in action and is buried in Corbie Communal Cemetery, Somme, France. He was the younger son of Andrew Turner, farm servant, of Hardie’s Mill, Gordon and the husband of Jane Turner of Mid Softlaw, Kelso. Before enlisting in November 1914 he had been employed as a farm servant at Blakelaw, Kelso and he joined his Battalion in France in February 1915.
