Second Lieutenant James Bell

Second Lieutenant James Bell, 11th ( Service ) Battalion, Royal Scots. He died from wounds in France on 11th January 1917, aged 21. He was the son of Richard Bell of Holmhead, Newcastleton and is buried in Fauberg D’ Amiens Cemetery, Arras France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Faithful Unto Death “. He had been educated at George Heriot’s School in Edinburgh and was a Sergeant in the O.T.C. when he enlisted in November 1915 being commissioned in December of that year. ( His brother John also fell – see below ).
