Sergeant Adam Robson

Sergeant Adam Robson, 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died of disease in Carlisle Infirmary on 27th May 1917, aged 31 and is buried in Castleton cemetery. He had joined the Volunteers in 1902 and then the 4th Territorial K.O.S.B. when it was formed in 1908. He  later served at Gallipoli. He had been born in Castleton and was the son of Jessie  Robson and the grandson of James Robson of 17 South Hermitage Street, Newcastleton. at Gallipoli he had contracted dysentery and eventually evacuated home in October 1915 after treatment on Mudros. After further treatment in Manchester and Edinburgh he was adjudge unfit for further military service and discharged from the Army in February 1917.
