Lance Corporal George Bruce Redpath, 1st Battalion, Royal Scots. He was killed in action in Palestine, aged 22, on the 9th November 1938. He had been born in Lauder and was the son of James and Margaret Redpath of 22 Upper Vennel, Lauder. His burial place in Palestine is unknown. Before enlisting as a Regular soldier in the Army he had served his apprenticeship as a baker in Lauder. He was killed in action near Tulkarm, Palestine in a clash with an armed rebel Arab band.
