Lance Corporal Robert Mitchell, 11th ( Service )Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers. He died from wounds in France on 11th August 1916 suffered during the Battle of the Somme and is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Thiepval, Somme, France. He had been born at Ford, Northumberland. The photographs show troops on the Somme.
