Private John Scott

Private John Scott, 1st Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers att. Light Trench Mortar Battery. He died  in France on 29th October 1917 of wounds received in action during the Battle of Third Ypres aged 21. He was the son of Robert and Margaret Scott of Kilham, Mindrum, Cornhill-on-Tweed and is buried in Favreuil British Cemetery, Bapaume, Somme, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Sleep On Beloved Until We Meet Again In Heaven To Part No More “. The photographs show the desolation of the Flanders battlefields where the fragile drainage systems had been destroyed by the incessant shelling. and a light mortar team in action.
