Private William Tice, 1st/4th ( Border ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died in France on 20th September 1918 from wounds received in action during the “Advance to Victory” aged 30. He was the son of William and Isabella Tice of 24 Horse Market, Kelso and the husband of Margaret Green Tice of 24 Greenside Place, Edinburgh whom he had married in Kelso in 1910. He had joined the Battalion in Egypt in 1916 and served there and in Palestine before moving to France in April 1918. He is buried in Sunken Road Cemetery, Boisleux-St.,Marc, France where his Headstone is inscribed ” Gone But Not Forgotten”. The photographs show Allied troops advancing against the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War.
