Private Robert Thomas Murray, ” A ” Coy., 6th Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He was mortally wounded in England by enemy action on 18th November 1940 and died on 19th November 1942, aged 21. He was the son of David and Agnes Murray of Kelso and is buried in Kelso Churchyard. His Headstone is inscribed ” In Memory Of My Dear Son “. The Battalion was based at Theydon Bois on the Essex fringe of London during the Blitz. On 18th November a German landmine fell on the billets of “A ” Coy. and thirty men were killed or died of wounds. Another 30 were wounded.
