Private John Fairbairn, 7th/8th ( Service ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died in France on 5th December 1918 of wounds received in action during the “Advance to Victory” aged 43. He was the Husband of Helen Fairbairn of 12 Forrest Field, Kelso and is buried in Lille Southern Cemetery, Lille, France. His Headstone is inscribed ” Love And Remembrance Last Forever”. The photographs show Allied troops advancing against the retreating German army during the final 100 days of the War.
