Private James Robertson

Private James Robertson, 5th Battalion, Black Watch. He was killed in action in Sicily on 2nd August 1943, aged 19. He was the son of Mr and Mrs James Robertson of 122 Orchard Park, Kelso and is buried in Catania War Cemetery, Sicily. He was a well known local athlete and had originally enlisted in the Kings Own Scottish Borderers in October 1942 before transferring to the Black Watch. He fell in the heavy fighting to capture Catania which was finally captured on 5th August 1943. His Headstone is inscribed ” God Be With You Till We Meet Again “.
