Private James Patterson

Private James Patterson, 2nd/5th ( Territorial ) Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers. He died from Tuberculosis, aged 33, on the 3rd October 1916 and is buried in Sprouston Churchyard. he was the son of William and Agnes Patterson of Cessford Cottages, Sprouston and is buried in Sprouston Churchyard where his Headstone is inscribed ” Beloved Son Of William & Agnes Patterson of Sprouston”. Before enlisting in November 1914 he had been employed as a slater. He was discharged from the Army in August 1916 and died at home in Sprouston.
