Private James Gardiner, 15th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry. He was killed in action in Belgium on 15th July 1917, aged 35. He was the son of John and Jane Gardiner of Kelso and the husband of Helen Gardiner of 284 Holburn Road, Aberdeen and is buried in Ramscappelle Road Military Cemetery, Flanders, Belgium. This Battalion was known as the Glasgow Tramways Battalion and was a ” Pals ” Unit in the 32nd Division and had been formed in 1914 from current and past members who had worked for the Glasgow Corporation.
