Gunner Andrew Hogarth

Gunner Andrew Hogarth, 20th Reserve Battery, Royal Field Artillery. He died at Home on 4th April 1917, aged 31. He was the husband of Mary Fleming Hogarth of Friars Cottage, Kelso and is buried in Smailholm Churchyard. The R.F.A. normally used the 18 pounder gun in an anti infantry role using both high explosive and shrapnel shells as shown below.
