Sapper David Scott Kinnear, 1st Army Signals, Royal Engineer. he died on Active service in France, aged 22, on the 7th November 1916. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the son of David and Elizabeth Kinnear of 204 Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh. He had been employed as a G.P.O. linesman in the Engineering Dept., Edinburgh and worked in the Jedburgh and Melrose Districts. He enlisted in June 1915 and was transferred to the 1st Army Signals in France in September 1916. He was accidentally electrocuted whilst trying to repair a telephone line. He is buried in Choques Military Cemetery, Pas de Calais, France. His brother Edward also died during the War – see below.
