Corporal William Boyd Jardine, 2nd/10th ( Reserve ) Battalion, Manchester Regiment. He died at Home, aged 31, on the 16th January 1917. He had been born in Jedburgh and was the third son of John and Margaret Jardine of Jedburgh. He had played rugby for Jed Forest and then pro rugby for Oldham. In September 1914 he enlisted vin the Manchester Regiment but in training he developed T.B. and was discharged from the Army as “unfit for War service” in October 1915. He died at home in 87 Castlegate, Jedburgh and is buried in Jedburgh ( Cemetery), Jedburgh. ( His two brothers Adam and Walter also died , see above ).
